What is PAT Testing?
Portable Appliance Testing uses a number of tests to pass or fail equipment based on a legal health and safety standard. It ensures safety in the workplace by highlighting electrically faulty equipment.
Firstly, a full visual inspection is carried out: checking for correct plug wiring, fuse rating, cord damage, casing damage and suitability of use.
Then using the latest PAT testing devices, depending on type and class of equipment being tested we conduct:
- earth bond testing
- insulation test
- touch current test
- continuity test
In a typical office, the types of equipment that we would test include leads for all electrical equipment (computers, printers, fax machines), freestanding lamps, fans, kettles and kitchen equipment, and extension leads.
Once complete, all tested equipment is smartly labelled and test results are downloaded, printed and delivered to you in a folder and in electronic format on CD-ROM.
